There are many types of Diabetologist conditions that may be treated in a hospital, some examples include:
- Type 1 diabetes: Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin. It can be treated with insulin therapy, diet, and exercise.
- Type 2 diabetes: Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use insulin properly. It can be treated with a combination of medications, diet, and exercise.
- Gestational diabetes: Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy. It can be treated with diet, exercise, and, if necessary, insulin therapy.

Diabetic retinopathy: Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes that affects the eyes, causing vision loss. It can be treated with laser therapy and surgery.
- Diabetic nephropathy: Diabetic nephropathy is a complication of diabetes that affects the kidneys, leading to kidney damage. It can be treated with medication and lifestyle changes.
- Hyperglycemia: Hyperglycemia is a condition in which the blood sugar levels are too high. It can be treated with insulin, oral medications, and lifestyle changes.
- Hypoglycemia: Hypoglycemia is a condition in which the blood sugar levels are too low. It can be treated with glucose tablets, candy, or juice.
- Foot care: People with diabetes are at risk of developing foot problems, such as ulcers, infections, and amputations. Diabetologist can provide specialized care for foot care and prevent complications from arising.
